Rules

6300 Street Modified Rules for the 2010 Season

Section I - Engine

1.  Engine Limitations:

  • 510 Cubic Inch limit with 1 percent allowance
  • 4150 Carburetors on gas (NO Dominators)
  • Must run Cast Iron Heads
  • No Vacuum Pumps or External Belt Drive Oil Pumps
  • NO Roller Bearing style camshafts allowed - only babbot bearing style camshafts
  • Trucks do not have to have any engine belts

2.  Truck engines may not be moved more than 2" from the stock location.

3.  No Hemi or Hemi type heads, no EX 514, A460 TFS heads, or any other type of cast iron heads that does not accept a stock manufactured intake manifold without use of spacers, shims, or wedges used to adapt Manifold.  No fuel injection.

Section II - Exhaust, Fuel & Carburetors

4.  No exhaust system or pipes larger than 4" in diameter.  Systems need to be at least 12" past the cab and only one pipe per side.  No headers allowed through the hood.

5.  No altered gas or mixing of gas no fuel additives or oxygenated fuel permitted.  Racing fuel with octane of 116 is permiteed.  No fuel will be added after truck has been weighed, unless truck is in a pull-off.  Carburetors must be 4150 frame with no larger than  a 5 inch breather throat with the 4 throttle blades not over 1 and 3/4 inch barrels.   Fuel regulators will be allowed in this class.

6.  The motor must be naturally aspirated.  No tunnel ram intakes are allowed.  Carburetors are limited to 5" of intake spacers (no nitrous oxide apparatuses are allowed).  No hand throttles allowed.

7.  Fuel cells can be placed on the front or in the bed of the truck.

Section III.  Frame & Body

8.  Street Modified trucks should have a "street appearance".  Street appearance shall be defined as:  working - driving lights, brake lights, back up lights, all original glass or replacement glass on all 4 sides (actual glass, NO Plexiglas or clear pastic).  Windshield wipers and wiper motor should be in place but don't have to work.  NO fiberglass body parts with the exception of the hood - scoop, which may be fiberglass.  Trucks must have 4 wheel working brakes, which may be disc or drum.  Trucks need to be equipped with working seat belts.  Truck will be equipped with working kill switch.

9.  No homemade frames or aftermarket frames.  Cabs must be located in original position on frame.

a)  Front end, cab and bed should have original cab firewall, dash and floor pan.  Truck must have complete doors with factory glass that is able to roll up and down and fenders with original body panels not door skins, fender, or body skin replacements.  Truck bed must be capable of holding any given tech officials weight and the tech official must be able to walk on the bed.

10.  Solid suspension in back will be acceptable with minumum of one original leaf spring.  Spring needs to be hooked into original spring hanger.  Ladder bars will be allowed in front and back of truck, no boxing of frame (hydraulic steering will be allowed).

11.  All trucks must have a "full size" body with 6 or 8-foot bed and must match a full size truck frame.  For example, no Ford Ranger, Chevy S10, Toyota, Mazda, Isuzu bodies or frames allowed.  Must have all factory sheet metal on the outside of the truck body.  No homemade beds allowed.  Beds must have factory sheet metal on the outside of the bed (no wood or aluminum beds).  Truck body, frame and motor must be of same manufacturer.  Running gear nothing heavier than 1-ton power train.

12.   Maximum width of weight frame 80", must be capable of carrying 300 lbs. of loose weights.  Can extend no more than 60" from front axle with limiting straps or other stop apparatus.  All weights must remain inside of the 80" width. 

13.  Truck hitches will be 36% of the truck's wheel - base, rigid in all directions, welded solid for no in or out adjustments.  Hitch height 24" maximum with no upward travel.  Hitch cannot be more than 2" higher than frame.  No dirt deflectors will be allowed in this class.  Back wheel cannot track in or out more than 1/2 the width of the front tire.

14.  Maximum tire size is 12.5" X 35" and DOT approved. (13.50" X 33 DOT approved will also be allowed).

15.  Batteries need to be placed in the original position under hood.  Straps or tie downs will be necessary to make battery stay in a stationary position without movement.

Section IV.  Transmission

16.  All trucks must be equipped with blow proof sheilds or transmission blankets.  Trucks will have at least one rear drive shaft loop with U-joint shields.  No centrifugal clutches allowed.

Section V.  General Rules & Violations

17.  Engines may be pumped at least once furing pulling season and can be done at any given time.

18.  Test pullers will return in 6th place.  If there is more than one test puller (for example, if the sled is reset) the next test puller(s) will come back in a consecutive order as 7th, 8th, 9th, etc.  No test puller shall come back last unless a legitimate break or mishap can be proven to the judges.

19.  2008 Purse for Points Pulls and Non-Points Pulls:

20.  Drivers must remain in the seat while engine is running.  He or she must be wearing fire suit and helmet while pulling.

21.  All pullers must have a valid driver's license to compete.

22.  Pullers choosing not to join in Dragon Motorsports rules will pull exhibition only at the end of class (no money or points).

23.  If driver is caught in rule violation, he/she will be stripped of points and money for one pull or for the year depending on severity of violation.

24.  Rule committe will govern, enforce and have the final say in these matters for a period of three years.

25.  If any issues arise during the season, the rule committe will meet and make the final determination.
